Continuing the pop-up post series, here’s a quick look at an empty potash train rolling into Winnipeg from off the CN Sprague subdivision.
At the crossing beside Tinkertown Amusements, a Sperry truck and crew waited for their turn to use the track (above).
A mile or so farther along, lead unit CSX 710 brings the train into CN’s Symington Yard in the early morning sun.

This big SD70MAC and the GE behind it had no trouble hauling the long, long train in.

While I was shooting the train under the highway overpass, I encountered another railfan doing the same railfan duty. Hi Andrew!

Walking briskly, I kept up with the train as it rolled past the hump in Symington Yard.

The train would block the view of the yard for a while, so I decided to head out. It was a good way to start my birthday…
Happy Birthday! (Yesterday)
Nice catch of some rare power north of the border. Unit 3332 is a new tier 4 GE ET44AH and unit 710 is also a GE, but in this case an older ES44AH.
Hi Lowell, thanks for the details on the CSX units.
