This is the Mountain Region employee timetable for CN, featuring the British Columbia region, effective October 31, 1971. This would supersede previous timetables and be in effect until the next timetable is issued. During the era of timetable and train order use, train crews would be expected to carry one of these at all times so they were aware of scheduled trains and other information.
This timetable featured the following subdivisions, some of which no longer exist:
- Albreda: Jasper to Blue River
- Ashcroft: Kamloops Jct. to Boston Bar
- Bulkley: Smithers to Terrace
- Clearwater: Blue River to Kamloops Jct.
- Cowichan: Victoria to Youbou
- Fraser: McBride to Prince George
- Kitimat: Terrace to Kitimat
- Lumby: Lumby Jct. to Lumby
- Nechako: Prince George to Endako
- Okanagan: Kamloops Jct. to Kelowna
- Rawlison: Hydro to Livingstone
- Skeena: Terrace to Prince Rupert
- Telkwa: Endako to Smithers
- Tete Jaune: Redpass Jct. to McBride
- Tidewater: Deerholme to Cowichan Bay
- Yale: Boston Bar to Vancouver
The map on the back cover is a little hard to read, because British Columbia is so big and the two CN main lines are so far apart. Here’s a portion of it, featuring the Ashcroft, Okanagan and Yale subdivisions and the now-dismantled Vancouver Island subdivisions.
I scanned this timetable because I was interested in the CN Okanagan subdivision, for a project I’ve been working on. More later.
