The Road to Regina, Part 3
CPKC has a large presence in the Regina area because it is on their main line. CN’s presence is much more limited, and Regina is connected to CN’s network via a branch line from Melville to Regina named the CN Quappelle subdivision, which runs through the Qu’Appelle Valley.
The Road to Regina, Part 2
After I crossed the border into Saskatchewan, I passed through Langenburg and Churchbridge. Melville was on my mind, but before that, I went to Bredenbury.
The Road to Regina, Part 1
Recently I had to travel to the Regina, Saskatchewan area for work. I elected to drive from Winnipeg using my own car, rather than fly there and then rent a car. This gave me some flexibility on the route and how long I took to get there, so I used that to do a little exploring.
Melville’s Train Station

Can We Get On With It Already
The life of a railroader is often spent waiting.
Waiting for the call to go to work. Waiting for your train to be ready. Waiting for clearance to depart.

Recent Reads, July 2024
I read these three books back-to-back recently: “Satellite Image”, “Strange Sally Diamond”, and “The Long Defeat”.
The Mynarski Memorial Lancaster
Winnipeg had an airborne visitor – a rare one, at that. One of the two flyable Lancasters in the world visited the Gateway to the West this week.
The Lake of the Woods Railroaders Museum
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Lake of the Woods Railroaders Museum in Kenora, Ontario.
Review: Railroad Rolling Stock
Finally a book about the rest of the train! Locomotives get all the attention, but it’s the cars behind the engines that make the money.
