CFMG 6908 was an SD40, formerly CN 5067 (class GF-30d). It was built in 1968, leased to CSX in mid-1998, retired from CN on January 22, 1999, and rebuilt by Alstom by the spring of 1999 for CFMG.
6908 was the lead engine (with 6901) involved in a derailment November 6, 2001 just east of Campbellton, where it struck a truck float at a private crossing. It was sent to Moncton for repairs. 6908 belonged to the CFMG (Chemin de Fer de Matapedia et Golf) but was often seen on the NBEC. Both the NBEC and CFMG were owned by the Quebec Railway Corporation.
6908 was sent to IRSI at the end of April 2003 for work and returned in mid-June. It went to IRSI again at the beginning of March 2004 for some engine work.
