NBEC 1864 was an MLW RS-18, still in CP Rail livery. It was built by MLW as CP 8734 in March 1957, and rebuilt in 1989 and renumbered to CP 1864. It was sold to NBEC in January 1998.
1864 was out of service in the summer of 2003 due to a bad order main generator.
1864 received a major overhaul at the IRSI shops in Moncton starting about August 2003
and ending in May 2004 and became SFEX/CFQC 3000. Work done on the unit included a new electrical system and a new air intake for the main generator.
