The Cape Breton Development Corporation (known as DEVCO) was established in July 1967 and took over the manage the coal mining and the Sydney and Louisburg Railway. DEVCO’s railway operations were primarily to ship coal from the Nova Scotia mines to local power plants and for export.
One of the predecessors to DEVCO was the Nova Scotia Steel & Coal Company. Here is their October 14, 1907 employee timetable for the Ferrona Spur, showing the two trains running between Ferrona Junction and Sunny Brae. Thanks to Ric Hamilton for providing the scan.
